Since time immemorial Man has sought the answers to the fundamental questions of life. Each person must follow his or her own special path in this search. This is the story of one such journey, that of a scientifically trained businessman in the time of the Kali Yuga.
According to the ancient sacred scriptures of India, the oldest known to Man, we evolve through repeating cycles of varying degrees of spiritual awareness. Currently we are said to be in the Kali Yuga, or “dark age” when spiritual awareness is at its minimum and materialism reigns. Each age presents its special challenges. And each age eventually comes to an end.
Part 1 of the book – The Experience – requires a word of explanation if is to be understood properly. The main text describes some extraordinary experiences I had in 1980 and 1982. The chapters were written shortly afterwards in order to have a fresh record, and then laid aside for several years. About ten years later, after many years of searching for an explanation, I came across some literature from an unexpected source that cast a new light on my experiences. There was a hair-raising correspondence between my recorded feelings and the explanations put forward by these sources. I have inserted in the original text quotes in italics various places from these sources in juxtaposition with the historical record. While the inserts are referenced with notes for the sake of completeness, I recommend that the reader skip the notes initially and just go with the flow. Later in the book I will deal with these sources, why I have used them, and what they otherwise have to say.
The events described are all accurate portrayals as I experienced them. I have disguised the names of many of the persons I met along the way to protect their privacy.
